What others have asked this chiropractor

What is “that clicky thing,” and why do you use it?

One of the most common questions folks ask chiropractors is why we use an activator—what most patients refer to as the “clicky thing”—instead of twisting and cracking them like some chiropractors do.

When you’re adjusted the traditional way, your nervous system is put on alert, the body senses a threat and reacts by using the muscles to guard it. But since the activator is 300 times faster than traditional adjustments, the body senses no such threat.

An activator is also significantly more precise than twisting and cracking. With an activator, the force and direction are easy to control.

And the activator is gentle, requiring 60 percent less force to affect the human body. This gentleness combined with speed and precision lead to an excellent and effective adjusting experience.

What is dry needling?

Dry needling is similar to acupuncture in that fine stainless steel needles are placed to relieve pain. But while acupuncture focuses on restoring energy flow in the body, dry needling—called so since no liquid is injected into the body—focuses on trigger points and stimulating painful or knotted muscles. Chiropractor Dr. Tharpe offers this as one of the suit of services to help patients in and around Franklin get back doing what they love.

What equipment do you recommend for home use?

We also offer a variety of supplements and products in-house such as Biofreeze, formula 303, proteozyme, vitamin c, Salonpas, nasal spray, Natural Calm, muli-vitamins, pillows, braces/supports, and much more.

What is the Webster technique?

Dr. Larry Webster a professor at Life Chiropractic University, developed the Webster breech turning technique—shortened to he Webster technique after his passing. He taught this safe, gentle, non-invasive method to hundreds of chiropractic students and the technique has been in use for decades.

To date, there have been over 18 articles published showing the effectiveness of the Webster technique in the third trimester of pregnancy. Dr. Tharpe is trained in this technique.

Which insurance or managed-care plans do you accept?

Among others, we accept

  • Blue Cross/Blue Shield
  • United Health Care
  • Cigna
  • Aetna
  • Medicare
  • Humana
  • Signature Health Alliance

If you do not see your insurance company listed, please contact our office.

Dr. Tharpe has a Masters in Nutrition. Does he offer any nutritional services?

Yes, we do. Dr. Tharpe offers an initial consultation where he evaluates each patient's diet and lifestyle habits. The following visits are follow-ups, which keep track of all meals during the week. He advises his patients on what to eat to lose weight, get healthier, what activities to do, or what treatments we might offer to help you with weightloss. Dr. Tharpe is a great counselor in this area. He has helped many patients reach their weightloss goals.

If I don't have any health insurance, can I still become a patient and receive chiropractic care?

Absolutely. We offer a small discount to patients who pay out of pocket.

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, personal checks, and debit/credit cards, including Discover and American Express.

Is your office accepting new patients?

ChiroCore Wellness is always accepting new patients. We are here to help our patients get better, and aim to help whomever walks through our door. We believe your experience with us will be a pleasant one!
